The seaside means health for your CHILDREN

The seaside environment with all its components, SEA, SAND, CLIMATE, has been used since ancient times for therapeutical reasons, but the English doctor Richard Russel was the initiator of the modern thalassotherapy and in his work “De tabe glandulari sive de usu aquae marinae in morbis glandularum” (1750) he prescribed for children to spend time at seaside resorts, suggesting sea bathing and treatments, using sea water based ointments. From then on many seaside hospitals began to appear all over Europe, especially in Great Britain, France, Germany and Italy, where the sea water, seaside climate, sun radiation and sand applications were used following continually more precise and motivated criteria.
With time, the Seaside Hospitals and Children Seaside Camps became more and more similar to spas, with particular specialist directions.
The seaside climate is on average characterized by thermal, hydrometrical and barometric stability. In medicine the meteorological and climatic stability generally helps human wellbeing. The seaside climate is characterized by a high barometric pressure, high oxygen and ozone values in the atmosphere (three times higher than inland) originating from UV radiation, together with the presence of distinct  constituents, such as sodium chloride, iodine, bromine, silicon in the colloidal state, microscopic seaweed and gas ions which all have a beneficial effect on the respiratory system.
The seaside climate also has healing properties, stimulates the haematopoiesis, the appetite, the neurovegetative system, growth and the metabolism generally.

All these elements make the seaside environment ideal for children and what is more, the sun helps the formation of vitamin D, essential for correct bone growth, thus avoiding rickets.
A holiday at the seaside for children is, therefore, both fun and healthy.
As well as offering wide beaches and a clean sea, Bibione has an important Spa which uses sodium bicarbonate alkaline thermal water to help treat paediatric disorders, such as respiratory and dermatological problems, correlated with the climate and the sea water, the latter known for its antiseptic, revulsive, stimulating and strengthening properties.
