The lighthouse was built in 1913 by civil engineering and shortly after it was destroyed. Fortunately in a short time it was rebuilt. Bibione lighthouse is characterized by a simple architecture and white walls. It is located in the East side of Bibione, after crossing the area called “Lido dei Pini”, near the mouth of the Tagliamento river. It is recognizable up to 15 miles from the coast, and that’s why it has always been a point of reference and a cornerstone for surfers and for those who want to take a hike and discover the striking landscapes.
The green area surrounding the lighthouse is inhabited by many species of animals, such as mammals (squirrels, weasels, hedgehogs), birds (nightingales, blackbirds, swallows, woodpeckers) and reptiles. The fauna bends well with the flora, and this is a signal of a balanced environment. While walking, you can surely admire the flourishing vegetation, shrubs and orchids, where Mediterranean flora matches with alpine flora.
You can reach the lighthouse by bike, on horseback or – if you are a very trained person – by foot.
The lighthouse is overlooking the beach, so you could get to also walking on the shore.
Furthermore, if you want to keep you fit also during your holidays, you can go jogging in the path along the Tagliamento river that leads to the lighthouse.
There is also a new bike path that starts in Via Rigel and allows you to reach the lighthouse by bicycle or by walk.
