EMAS Environmental management system

EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme)

Bibione was the first European destination to obtain Environmental Registration in 2002, an international recognition that rewards commitment towards the environment and good quality of life. Since September 2012, the Environmental Management System has been extended to the entire municipal area.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Municipality of San Michele al Tagliamento: Tourist hub of Bibione
The Municipality of San Michele al Tagliamento – aware of the importance of protecting the environment for citizens and guests, has decided to implement an Environmental Management System in Bibione. This system is compliant with European Regulation 761 of 19 March 2001 EMAS, and is aimed at preserving the beauty of the area and the atmosphere of peace and quiet that the beach and the surrounding environment can offer its guests.

The Environmental Management System’s main goal is to prevent and reduce the environmental impacts related to the activities carried out in the area thanks to the collaboration of institutions, citizens, operators and tourists. Its secondary goal is continuous environmental improvement for Sustainable Development, the principles of Agenda XXI, in compliance with current environmental legislation, the needs and requests of citizens and tourists.
