International Day of Persons with Disabilities: Inclusion and Social Sustainability in the Hospitality Sector

Every year, in December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities invites us to reflect on the importance of inclusion, the value of diversity, and the role each of us can play in building a more equitable society.

For those of us working in tourism and hospitality, this occasion becomes a moment to reaffirm a fundamental principle: genuine hospitality is only possible when everyone can fully express their skills, feel part of a shared project, and contribute to collective well-being.

Inclusion as a daily value

At Europa Tourist Group, we believe that hospitality is not just a service: it is a way of looking at people, welcoming talent, and generating opportunities. Diversity, for us, is not a concept to be celebrated once a year, but a value that guides our choices and shapes our corporate vision.

This approach is reflected in our participation in the sixth edition of the National Competition “Different Abilities in the World of Catering.”

On that occasion, we offered a professional internship aimed at employment, creating a program that enhances participants’ talents and allows them to gain hands-on experience in an inclusive environment. It is a tangible example of how our commitment goes beyond words and translates into actions that create real growth opportunities.

The richness of diversity in the hospitality sector

A heterogeneous team, made up of people with different backgrounds and skills, brings enormous potential: new ideas, diverse sensitivities, and creative solutions. In the world of hospitality, where listening and attention are essential, this richness becomes a fundamental added value.

An inclusive work group is not only more empathetic and attentive but also better prepared to meet the needs of an international and diverse audience. The quality of the experience we offer our guests also stems from this: from the ability to value each individual and transform differences into opportunities for shared growth.

Social sustainability: a cornerstone of our business approach

Inclusion is not only an ethical choice but also a key element of social sustainability. Just as we have been committed for over fifty years to reducing our environmental impact, supporting the local economy, and innovating sustainably, we are equally dedicated to building a work environment that puts people at the center.

The internship offered during the competition thus becomes a concrete symbol of our social responsibility strategy: promoting equality, ensuring access to opportunities, supporting talent, and creating safe and welcoming spaces.

This same spirit guides many of our initiatives: corporate welfare programs, training paths combining technical skills and soft skills, personalized coaching, charitable activities in collaboration with local organizations, and projects promoting sports, culture, and the inclusion of new generations.

A commitment that continues

The story of Europa Tourist Group is rooted in a clear vision: developing hospitality that respects the environment, values people, and generates positive impacts on the local community. This vision, born when sustainability was not yet at the center of public debate, today translates into a strategic approach that integrates environmental, economic, and social sustainability.

Celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is, for us, a way to reaffirm a commitment we uphold every day: building workplaces where talent is recognized, people are heard, and every ability has space to grow.

Because true sustainable hospitality is not only about what we offer our guests, but also about how we choose to care for the people who work with us and the community that welcomes us.
